No Cure - No Pay: Young Expert Programmes Grant

Young Expert Programmes
The Young Expert Programmes aim to secure a sustainable supply of young professionals and their expertise for the Dutch Water, Agrofood, and Renewable Energy sectors in the context of International Development. This is achieved by encouraging Dutch organizations, including companies, knowledge institutions, and NGOs, to submit proposals for international development aid and trade projects that involve deploying Young Experts. By investing in the development of human capital, these initiatives contribute to fostering growth, cooperation, and positive global impact within these industries.
Organizations have the option to hire either Dutch or national Young Experts. Dutch Young Experts can be assigned to any eligible country, while national Young Experts can only be placed in the country of their nationality. This approach allows for flexible placements and ensures a suitable fit for each project based on the Young Experts’ backgrounds and expertise.
YEP is carried out jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, the Netherlands Water Partnership, and the Netherlands Food Partnership.
Funding
Organizations can receive up to €80.000 in funding for each Young Expert they bring on board. It’s important to keep in mind that the maximum number of Dutch Young Experts that can be hired is 5, and the number of local Young Experts cannot exceed 3.
Requirements organizations
- Registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK).
- Availability of a mentor in the Netherlands to guide the Young Expert.
- Presence of a supervisor in the country where the Young Expert will be placed.
- Collaboration with a local counterpart or subsidiary in that country, and their agreement on creating the potential YEP position.

Young expert requirements
- Dutch nationality, or the nationality of one of the countries that are eligible for funds
- Have a university diploma or professional higher education (HBO)
- The YEP Programmes are meant for young professionals that have less than 8 years of work experience.
- A Young Expert should possess limited experience in the relevant sector they are applying for, meaning they can have a maximum of 4 years of prior work experience in the fields of Water, Agrofood, and/or Renewable Energy. These 4 years are also part of the overall limit of 8 years of work experience.
- Proficient English language skills
Consultant guidelines YEP
- Scaling International is not the contact person for YEP Programmes with respect to the applicant organization.
- Scaling International is not present in introductory meetings between the YEP Programmes and the applicant organization.
- Scaling International is not involved in troubleshooting issues related to organizations receiving YEP grants (management of Young Experts, financial issues, etc.).
- Scaling International does not receive assignments from the YEP programmes and will not be paid out of the YEP budget if the YEP application is approved.

Het YEP Programma en de YEP subsidies
Bij Scaling International begrijpen we het belang van de YEP Programma Subsidies voor organizaties actief in het buitenland. Ons doel is om jou te helpen toegang te krijgen tot het YEP Programma en de daarbij behorende subsidiekansen. Wij werken nauw samen met jou volgens het principe “Geen Resultaat, Geen Betaling”.
De missie van het Young Expert Programmes (YEP Programmes) is het creëren van een jong, vernieuwd, inspirerend internationaal netwerk en het opbouwen van expertise op het gebied van Water, Agrofood en duurzame energie via Nederlandse organisaties die actief zijn in ontwikkelingslanden en opkomende markten. Dit wordt bereikt door Nederlandse organisaties, waaronder bedrijven, kennisinstellingen en NGO’s, aan te moedigen om voorstellen in te dienen voor ontwikkelingshulp- en handelsprojecten die young experts inzetten. Door te investeren in de ontwikkeling van menselijk kapitaal dragen deze initiatieven bij aan groei, samenwerking en een positieve mondiale impact binnen deze industrieën.
Bij Scaling International richten we ons op het optimaliseren van jouw waardepropositie om subsidiefinanciering van het YEP Programma aan te trekken. We bieden expertise en begeleiding om jouw kansen te maximaliseren en jouw succespercentage te vergroten.
Young Expert vereisten Als je een Nederlands of lokaal talent bent met interesse in Water, Agrofood en/of Duurzame Energie, kan je wellicht in aanmerking voor het YEP Programma. Vereisten omvatten een universitair diploma of professioneel hoger onderwijs diploma (HBO), en een maximum van 8 jaar werkervaring.
De subsidie is niet alleen een subsidie voor Afrika maar voor de meeste ontwikkelingslanden en opkomende markten.
